Well – another great evening for observing at Helen Garden on Sat 24th January.
We had around 200 eager observers young and old, who saw the Moon close-up and the majority saw Jupiter, and its cloud bands and Galilean moons before it eventually clouded over. Lots of warming coffees and hot chocolates from Cadence Coffee. We were so busy with the telescopes that we didn’t have time to set up our travelling Powerpoint astronomy presentation! We had a 12in Dobsonian, 8in SCT, a couple of small refractors and a small Newtonian to look through – plus an imaging rig on a laptop and a Seestar S30 smart telescope.
Next Public Stargazing event is Sat 21st February from 6pm to 8pm – slightly later as the Sun sets a bit later.
