The Milky Way over Birling Gap – Fri 8th July 2016 – 11:30pm

As the weather forecast said we would have the first clear night for a while and I wanted an image of the Milky Way at Beachy Head I thought I would give it a go. However it was a bit misty on the top of Beachy Head – so I went down to Birling Gap and it was clear – well for a while anyway! So I managed to take a couple of shots – this one was 30secs at 1600 ISO 18mm F3.5 on my Canon 1100D on a normal static camera tripod. The sky doesn’t get properly dark at the moment but when it does later in the month the Milky Way will of course be a bit lower in the sky – so this is probably as high as it gets. The processed image is very noisy but it is good enough for me! 🙂
