As the weather seems to be getting sunnier … it seems to be time to wear a hat!
So here is an image of the Sombrero Galaxy – Messier 104 in the Constellation of Virgo.
It is a spiral galaxy seen almost edge-on approx. 29 million lightyears distant, and is thought to contain around 800 billion (solar masses) stars. So it is much larger than our own Milky Way galaxy – which (only!) contains around 200 billion stars.
